Research & Innovation Management Services bvba was founded by Dr Frank Heemskerk in 2002.  The company has two partners.

After an academic background of 15 years in neurochemistry and pharmacology in the Netherlands (University Utrecht), USA (National Institutes of Health) and France (University Pasteur), Dr Frank Heemskerk joined Tibotec-Virco NV a small Bio-pharmaceutical company in Belgium, world leader in R&D for HIV drug discovery, development and diagnostics, now acquired by Johnson & Johnson. As Director Research Coordination & Funding, he was responsible for the Co-ordination, Management and Administration of all publicly funded Research projects in the company and the Business Development aspects of the external Research collaborations.

He has been involved in >38 EU projects since FP4, serves regularly as a consultant and expert evaluator to the European Commission & the Flemish government, has served 4 years as President of the European Association of Research Managers and Administrators (EARMA) and stood at the foundation of Proton Europe (http://www.protoneurope.org/) - the largest association of University Technology Transfer Offices in Europe. He is specialized in management and training services focused around international industry-academic research collaborations in the Biotechnology-Life Sciences-Health sector. Combining 15 years of academic research with >12 years in industry, he is now on the (advisory) Board of several start-up companies.
